The first Kickstarter I ever donated to is finally coming together.
Real human being, and a real chiptune cover
Gundersonmunderson created the graphics, animation, and music for this fun video. He emulated the Sega Genesis’ Yamaha YM2612 chip for this arrangement of College & Electric Youth’s “A Real Hero,” which you should remember from the soundtrack for Drive.
On a related note: The 8-Bit Cash-In, and the Dilution of an Artform.

At the 2001 Sundance Film Festival, filmmaker Justin Lin screened his film Better Luck Tomorrow, about Asian-American high school students who get mixed up in various crimes. It was an attempt to challenge the stereotype of the role model, overachieving Asian student. After the screening, an attendee stood up and criticized Lin for portraying Asians as “amoral and empty”. Legendary film critic Roger Ebert stood up and fired back at the attendee. “Asian-American characters have the right to be whatever the hell they want to be,” Ebert exclaims in the clip.
This video was already posted on my twitter account and FB page, but I just wanted to let as many as I can know this is why I loved Roger Ebert.
Only God Forgives is about a man who thinks he’s God and a gangster who’s looking for a religion to believe in. - Nicolas Winding Refn
